For over one billion Muslims throughout the world, Ramadhan is a special month of the year. During the month of Ramadhan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset every day. Ramadhan was the month in which the first verses of the holy Qur'an were revealed to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). It is a time for inner reflection, devotion to God and self-control. The sighting of the new moon at the end of Ramadhan heralds the celebration of Eid ul-Fitr.

When I've been in that part of the world during this time, the Muslim's don't bathe, either. Not like they normally smell great, but this is a real stinky month.
And, be on guard. This "holy" month is when they like doing "nice" things to folks.

They dont bathe? I don't know which part of the world you been to but those aren't muslims if they don't bathe, the real Muslims pray 5 times a day, before they pray they HAVE to either take a shower or wash hands, fingers, feet, elbow, face etc or their prayers wont be accepted, so in other words real Muslims (Religion Of Peace) are the cleanest human beings out there in the world - My opinion...
Also when you say "nice things to other folks", in the Month of Ramadhan, all Muslims are supposed to help out all needy, giving money to the poor, showing respect, pray 5 times a day, fast from dusk to dawn etc etc And those who are out there killing innocents witch those bombing sh1t aren't Muslims.. In Islam, when you kill ONE PERSON, it gets written in you book as that you have KILLED EVERYONE and thats the worsest sin anyone could ever commit -

The parts of the world that I've been to during Ramadan are Turkey, Kuwait, Saudi. Now, it may be that they've been out working between pray times as most that I was around were TCN's in Kuwait and Saudi and locals in Turkey. Those are some hard working folks, so yes, they may bathe, and as you said, must clean before praying, but not when I've been around them. Unfortunately, due to my work schedules, it's normally after sunset, and if I can remember right, the fasting stops after sunset, so this was when I was around them mostly, at restruants and chow halls.
And, yes, you are right about this being the time when Muslims are suppossed to be reflecting on their lives, but it is also the time when most terrorist attacks happen. I was in the Air Force during the last 22 years, and every time October came around, when we were in the Middle East, our security posture went up. This all started even before Desert Storm.
The vast majority of Muslims are very peaceful folks that just want to get thru life. I have actually been to a number of the local's homes in Turkey and Kuwait and they are real pleasent people, really no different than you or I. Unfortunately, the few extremists (all religions and races have them) has left a very bad taste in some people's mouths. It really is ashame that it happens, but most wars are started over religion. Kinda silly to me, but who can argue with over 2000 years of history. If my history is right (and anyone feel free to correct me) the only wars that were not started by religion were WWI, WWII (except for the genocide of the Jews by the Naxis), Korea, Vietnam, and Iraqi Freedom. I'm talking real wars, not the Panamas, Grenadas, etc.
Not trying to tick anyone off, and I apoligize if that happened, but I have spent the majority of my adult life protecting the thing that the extremists attempted to take away 4 years ago, freedom. I have nothing against the majority of Muslims. It's the extremists that I do.

Those Extremists aren't Muslims, they may use Islam's name but every Muslim that follows & respects Islam knows that anyone doing any harm to any innocent life isnt a true follower & is committing a SIN.
There are millions of hard working 10am to 10pm Muslims that are struggling, sweating etc etc But they should know to clean themselves up before they attend or perform any prayer - Most of the Muslims on this board would call this "WUZOO"
