It's between 6k 8k or 10k. Anybody got pics of their cars with HIDs? I want a blueish white color but more on the blue side.

The more blue you go, the less effective they are at actually illuminating things for you to see. I highly recommend 4300k or 6000k. Most OEM HID's are 4300k.
I have 8000k in my Saleen and the 6000k's in my Civic daily driver work much much better. [ January 20, 2011, 07:31 PM: Message edited by: 04 S281 ]

I got 6k on mine. Picked them up on ebay. It's pure white and is a little bit of an upgrade from stock HID bulbs. The 6k actually give off the most light. The 8&10k are not as bright but you'll get the tint you want. Keep in mind that the blue/purple lights are going to draw more attention to your car at night.
Each to his own but for me, I'd rather not give chp any reason to look in my direction. Those tinted lights stand out in freeway traffic.

So the 6k is brighter then 8k but the 8k is more blueish? Is the 6k just pure white or is there a kind of blueish to it?

+1 on the 6000k. Very bright white with a hint of blue. I'll take a pic of mine shortly.

a comparison of Kelvin to lumens; (rough guide since this test was using mostly Phillips OEM bulbs)
Standard OEM halogen 55W 9006(HB4) = 1100lm (lumens)
4300k D2S Philips = 3200lm (lumens) 4300k D2R Philips = 2800lm (lumens) 4300k D2S Philips = 2400lm (lumens) 4300k D2R Philips = 2000lm (lumens) 4800k D4S/R (brand) = 3800 (lumens) -- brightest in the market 5800k D4S/R (brand) = 3300 (lumens) 7000k D2S other = 1790lm (lumens) 7000k D2R other = 1390lm (lumens) 8000k D2S other = 1180lm (lumens) 8000k D2R other = 780lm (lumens)
Higher than 8000k, the light output significantly drops off, causing the light to be almost useless.
One should point out that although light output drops off after 8000k, the fact that the light is in the blue-purple spectrum, it still puts a major strain on the eyes of others.

Thanks that would help. I'm leaning towards 6000k right now though. I don't want to much blue or to much white either.

This is when they are just turned on.
After they warm up
yeah a little blue tint looks cool. Too much tho will only give the Cops a reason to pull you over.

I got mine from a member off the board out in Discovery Bay, They were new and never installed. I have seen a few members with kits from here.
http://www.ddmtuning.com/
They look like good quality. I'm sure somebody can give you the direct link.

I have ddmtuning.com raptor kit in my truck, 4300k 35w.
they're great, but don't bother with the hi/lo kit, I got it and all it does it flip the bulb around and the beam barely changes, not worth it. This is a pic of the high beams, still doesn't go over the trunk of my wifes convertible, just throws some extra scatter up on the wall of the house.
this shows the color compared to the stock halogen fog lights which have a higher beam pattern than the hid's, so my lights don't blind anyone unless the fogs are turned on...

Keep in mind every headlight lens is different which will make a difference in the color output... I have 10K's on my Bullitt and they are blue but they are plenty bright and not too blue...
