Our upcoming Cafords Spring Show is quickly arriving and we need a new location to have it!!!
***For those of you familiar with the Union City/Fremont area, we especially need your expertise!!! San Jose as well!***
THESE ARE MY REQUIREMENTS:
~I am looking for a place with a large parking lot fit to hold AT LEAST 150+ members along with their cars and a BBQ. (Keep in mind we are talking 150 people and only about 100 cars total)
~Somewhere that will not attract unwanted attention from the cops.
~Somewhere we can legally loiter.
AND GUESS WHAT???
The winner will get free food at the show...But JUST you not your friends as well.
Lets hear what you have to say! Remember, the sooner I get a location, the sooner we can meet up, get our grub on, then head out and cruise! [ April 14, 2006, 09:09 AM: Message edited by: SpdDevl ]

yea, dont think there are any parks around that area that can accomodate 300+ cars Here are some possibilities though: -Lake Elizabeth in Fremont -Lake Chabot in Castro valley -Kennedy Park in Hayward/San Lorenzo -"Pepsi" Park in Union City/Hayward -Park behind American High School in Fremont
Most of these places will require parking in the street though. There was that one lake off of Calaveras in Milpitas that I remember from a few years back...

The Shoreline Amphitheater parking lot in Mountain View is a HUGE lot (comfortably able to accomodate more than 300 cars). Since the area is a industrial/business complex, there is almost no traffic through there on weekends. Shoreline park is nearby and there's alsn a dog park across the street (if anybody wants to bring their doggy along). Not sure if permission is required for a large gathering.

Lake E accomodating 300 cars? I dunno about that. Maybe all spread out but not in 1 location. It would be nice if it were all in 1 area. I can't think of any area in Fremont that has that facility, well, besides the bart station and I know that's a no go.

Lake E in Fremont I think would be the worst idea. Not only would it be close to impossible to fit 300 members or even 200 cars but the Fremont POPO Department is on the same property + less than a block away from the largest parking lot at Lake E. They may not bug us at the park but they may snatch people up when leaving or arriving.
We'd also have to make it REALLY EARLY too because we'd need the whole parking lot and then some so everyone would need to be there before the normal public arrives. Only way I see Lake E working it if it is held at the far south end of it by the old swimming lagoon. And even then the parking would be TIGHT (as in small tight). Still you should check it out cause if it would fit enough cars and we don't get hassled then it IS a nice large park.
I'll cruise by the community center in Newark (stone throw from Fremont) at the end of Mowry by the PickNpull. There is a large lot back there but might not be large enough. It isn't used very often,...so much that the cement is actually dirty (maybe to dirty). Will check it though on my lunch today.
I don't know about being allowed to hold the event at Ohlone Jr. College but at the bottom of the parking lot there is a ton of space..close to Mission Blvd. where they sometimes hold a flee market type of thing. Should fit a lot of cars but again don't know about being allowed to do it and the parking down there I think has grass and cement. Can cruise by there sometime this week too to check parking...as far as them letting us I'd have no idea how to check.
Another place you may want to check out is Ardenwood Farm. TON of parking there and away from a lot of the general public. Would be an awesome place I think but again getting permission I'd have no idea. I think admission to the Farm itself is like $3 so maybe if we paid the admission fee or something...don't know but I think that place would be alright.

Hey guys, On Easter I checked places around the Dublin area and have a few lots in mind for our show. Great location off the freeway but I need to call the site manager and make sure it is ok for us to loiter. Details to follow so I will post when I know more. To all those who offered their suggestions, I will keep this post for future show ideas. Thanks!!
