Does anyone know why we got lowered a few years back to crap 91 when 92 octane was just fine? Reading other forums where different states get 93 and even 94 octane makes me pissed off. When we're running high horse power cars every point makes a huge difference

For high HP applications E85 or bust, I wouldn't want to take the chance of destroying an engine with pump gas.

Reformulated California blend to reduce emissions. Other states still have 92, 93 & 94. When I was in the mid-west a while back they had 85. It was funny pulling up to the pump and seeing a button for 85, 87, 89, 90, 92 and 94.

Now that's the selection I want to see at a pump! E85 is hard to find in the bay area. I want to do a tune on my daily driver SHO TT and the tune I want to give it requires 93, like so many other states have. This damn state has always been known for bad ass cars, everyone knows that! Wonder when there going to take away 91 and give us 90?

It's right off of 680, opposite the golf course.

Is that the gas station with racing flags all over the pavement? I love that place. If your going north 680 it's the first exit after the chp weigh station going down Sunol grade. If your going south 680 it's the exit where your parallel to the golf course. Right before Sunol grade.

Its not too bad as far as prices go. I have two of my bikes tuned on the ragged edge and whenever it is in the upper 90's (or humid) the bikes run like crap at the track (well it is always hot at Thunderhill). Putting the 94 in cures all that so that is what I fill up in the gas jugs on track days. Anything higher in octane would be overkill for me..so I don't need the 96+ level or the $8.00 a gallon price:)
