I dunno if you guys have heard Nas's new single "Hero", but IMO its one of the best radio tracks I have heard in a long time. Im tired of all this radio Bull$hit & Nas is here to take the light back....His new album is bangin', if you havent heard it yet, you need to peep it....You guys probably wont feel me because your too caught up in the same ol' Hyphy BS, or your too busy listening to weezy, but that stuff isnt even on the same playing field with NAS!!!!
Peep the video..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DirBbksulqQ

yes Nas is back an its good to hear that he brought some substance back. i have always been a big NAS fan. I hate that he had to change the name of the album but you have to do what you have to do.

Glad someone else is feelin me. Substance is definitely what hip hop has been lacking in the recent years. I always was a big fan of Nas too, but he lost me after his 2nd album because he got caught up in the glitz & glam. But then when Him & Jay Z started beefin, Jay made Nas's fire return. Ever since Stillmatic came out, Nas has been on top of his game IMO....

I can't wait to get the new ice cube album as well. I think Nas and Cube would murder 99% of these new rappers out today

Nas's Album came out today.
I hear ya Mario on what slaps, & I have made tracks for Keak & I know him personally, but you cant barely understand what the hell Keak says...His songs arent worldwide hits, only NorCal hits....If you ask me, Keak sounds like a drunk Pirate on the Mic....I keep waiting to hear him say, "AAAAARRRRRRRR MAYTEE!!!!Walk dee plank, yadadameen!!!" LOL!!!!
On one of the tracks we did, on the hook he said "Blahblahblahblahblahblablahoohhohhaahhahh, all in the doe finna set up shop!!!" What the hell does that mean????
Out of the bay hyphy artists, I do like certain artisits like Mac Dre, Clyde Carson, San Quinn, & E 40.... [ July 17, 2008, 01:28 AM: Message edited by: EPIK ]

Nas, definitely has some lyrical nastiness. I dont agree with him being the best rapper though.

Who is then??? Nas has raw subject matter, substance, a good voice, delivery is on point, Can battle, can do club hits, can do street hits, gangsta shit, can do chick songs, & can get very deep with his lyrics.... What more could you ask for???
Only other MC's on his level lyrically around nowadays are Jay Z, Eminem, Pharoah Monche, Kanye, Mos Def, Game, & Common...but IMO, none of them are as lyrically sharp & all around as Raw as Nas!!!
Everyone has there own opinions though.... [ July 17, 2008, 01:41 AM: Message edited by: EPIK ]

The best I think was Pac. You can listen to Pac's stuff over and over and over and not get tired of it. If you were talking about the best now then I have no idea. I have not really listened to rap music in about 1 and 1/2 years. It garbage compared to the early 90's stuff.

Pac was good, & he had substance in his lyrics too, but he was never my favorite & I cant agree with him being the best.

Its all good. Like you said, everyone has their own opinion. I agree with Nas shittin on Keak. I mean how hard is it to make a track about going dumb, hyphy, guns, etc. For any decent lyricist its cake. However, trying to make a track with a message and point isnt so easy. Honestly only stuff I have in my box at this point is. Jada Kiss, DMX, Pac, Bad n Fluenz and Brotha Lynch...lol. I dunno man, Nas never really did it for me. He had a few singles I was diggin. But I have never bought his albums. But I am getting up there in age so my opinion is rather faulty at this point.

If anyone looked at my rotation right now they would think its composed of 4 or 5 different peoples tastes. Ive got some roger & zapp, pac, nas, atreyu, bobby womak. I even have some finch, story of the year, and evans blue.

still bump Illmatic in the whip
But seriously GOAT?
Biggie got it hands down. Pac...nah not even close, he just got a hardcore following. Illmatic was a GREAT album, but IMO Ready II Die tops it.

Keak is GARB, PERIOD! Nas is alright I guess, but people who really like him tend to over estimate his skill level. To me NAS is pretty much an old broken record, not capable of a comeback IMHO. Nas' best albums were 'I am' and 'illmatic'. PAC is the best, HANDS DOWN NO ARGUEMENT, never gets old, never goes out of style, still hits home. Did I mention Keak is completely garbage and I'm ashamed to say that is bay area music

That new song is aight. He still fell into the trap rapping about diamonds and cash. Got I hate that topic these days.
All the best rappers are already dead!
I been listening to Erk da Jerk - Dumb lately. Got a message about hyphy in it.
