Is anyone meeting up before they head out to the TPS carshow on Sunday, 7/26? Just wondering if theres gonna be a mini cruise out towards that way [burnout]

Actually, Rick is coming to use the TPS dyno. I heard Amazon is doing a dyno session, and Rick will be using the dyno at TPS, not to tune any cars for TPS [Confused] Don't know where you got this information [Confused]

1. Spoke with Rick DIRECTLY yesterday about this actual matter.
2. So Mike sold his share of APEX 7-8 months before it closed to Steven, one of his business partners at Surpluscomputers? Both Mike and Steven were both at "the sale" and Steven throwing Mike under the bus saying the reason they closed was because Mike was trying to run APEX like the computer business and had way too much money in inventory for stuff that never moved. I'm sure he got alot for his share of negative equity.
3. Why is all of this relevant? Because I wouldn't want to see another person get absolutely screwed again like they did at APEX. How many cars were STILL there on the "last days" trying to get everything installed that people paid for? How many cars left APEX blown to smitherings due to improper setup? I know FOR SURE of one turboed terminator that is at AEDs right now.
4. How many complaints does SurplusComputers have with the BBB....that Mike Mak is/was the President? 102, with a rating of F.

People can enjoy the show but personally I wouldn't help them in any way.

There was a TON of drama over Apex and how they handled their shit (all the threads got deleted). The dude threatened to shut down Cafords for crying out loud! [Eek!]

So that's why I have a voicemail from TPS Motorsports, when I've never bought or even heard of them. I really don't appreciate the "spam."

Mike Mak is most likely reading this thread - I hope you have learned from past mistakes and have come to realize that making every little cent out of your customer isn't the best of business practices. Owning a Mustang performance shop also has a lot to do with being a part of the community. I was a disappointed customer when I bought a cheap product that turned out to be a worthless piece of trash from China that you had spoken highly of. I will say that after a little bit of pushing, Mike did try to make things right by offering a discount on a replacement product.

FWIW, I honestly have no interest in doing business with any company that is affiliated with Mike - I've simply read and heard way too much. Hope the car show goes well and those who attend enjoy it. I'll be passing on this one.

I would never step in Mike Mak shop. Because me and him got in to it, because my buddy car was a his shop getting some work done. Mike was trying to milk him of every penny. My buddy's car was at his shop for almost month and half, because Mike was taking new projects on before finishing up the one he already started.

Please keep in mind this happened about 3 years ago and still today every chance Mike gets he runs his mouth or types comments about me.. I had made a agreement with a mutual friend a while ago to stop the drama so I kept my mouth shut.. but because of some resent events and the dozen PMs I got off here since last night.. I have no issues FINALY telling my story.

So let’s start off with my former 99 Cobra… The car went to get tuned and when I left I thought I lost my radiator… I shut the car off at first signs of coolant smell so I wouldn’t get any damage form over heating…

So I took it back to Apex and was told it was my radiator so I have them order me a new one and then found out it was the canton tank that split not the radiator but since it was all apart I had them put the new one in…..

When I left the shop the car started to over heat.. So I turned around and brought it back…. They didn’t burp the system correctly… so after they fixed it I went to leave again and the same thing happened so I pulled over on a rest stop and called Mike.. He told me if I could fix it to go ahead… Another Mike came out to lend a hand and let me use some of his tools… so then I took it back and left it over night… when I came back to pick the car up it drive great but on the freeway the sleeve for the power pipe came off (George drove out to the side of the freeway with me and fixed it)… we got that fixed and I was on my way…

I brought it back to have the canton tank put back on and on my way home I was on the freeway.. 2 radiator hoses came off and before I could react the car starting to ping and shut down.. Luckily I got off the side of the freeway without getting hit… when I went to turn the car off the motor seized… I called Mike furious and he said he would have it towed back and torn apart to see what was damaged and he would pay to have it replaced…

Well 2 months went buy.. 4 months went buy and I kept getting the blow off that they didn’t have any lifts open.. Then come to find out Mike had them move my car in and out of the shop with no coolant and a blown head gasket… comeplety destroyed the block and heads (not the shops fault since Mike told them to do it)

6 Months went buy with nothing but excuses and same threat as always “I am going to pay for a new motor, you need to be patient” then he told me he didn’t have the money to replace the motor… 8 months go by and still the car sites… paint scratched to hell and the interior covers in dust… I would get call after call from people asking me why I would put up with this.. I just said I wanted to see if Mike would keep his promise (remind you I was making car payments and insurance payments through all this)

I then took a part time job at Apex on my days off hoping I could get the car on a lift and I did.. They guys got the motor pulled on 2 days and torn apart... I had the heads checked and was told they were warped beyond repair… I confronted Mike and he said he was working on a surprise because I waited for so long. He then tried to get me to use my site to gain business for his shop, when I refused to do so I was told they couldn’t afford to pay me part time and had to go.. I left with a smile. I am glad I did it because I learned a lot of dark secrets about Mike while there.. Gave me the opportunity to check and study on the BS he feed me on my Cobra.

9 Months went buy and I called fired up because now my Family was harping on me.. Mike said he was working on getting a built motor from CHP for free for my troubles…. So I waited and then a little birdy called me and told me I needed to call CHP for myself because Mike was talking a lot of crap about my car… so I did and NO ONE had a clue what I was talking about… Mike had lied to me…. I then talked to one of the other partners and told them the story, he said he would get one Mike about it… 11 months go by…. I called and said I was looking to sue for all the BS.. Mike then said he got the motor and was trying to get me a KB so I would be totally satisfied and also magazine article on the build…. So I called KB and again they had no clue….

Come to find out Mike was trying to sell his portion of Apex to the other partners and closing down Surplus computers and I was told he never planned on replacing the motor but going to leave it to the other partners… Then Mike was forced out of the business by his partners.

Ok so this has been an entire year my car sat at Apex while Mike feed me all this BS.. SO I called the new owner and said I was in the process talking to an attorney about my options to sue… Steven asked what they could do to make me happy.. I finally had enough and told his brother in-law he could buy the car for XXX amount and Steven stepped up and purchased the car form me….

After all this Mike went out of his way to talk as much trash about me and his made up story about why the cobra sat in the shop for so long it got pathetic and he was banned from our site and the drama really hit the fan…. Steven had to step in and kill it.. or al least tried.. We all Know Mike as “It’s never my fault”.. Sad a grown adult can’t take responsibility for his one actions and BS.

So I find out Mike is telling people the reason the car sat for so long is because of my financial probs (Had none) and that my girlfriend at the time now wife was feeding me BS… The ass started talking trash about my family… Yes FAMILY’; who had nothing to do with this… I called him on it and he went off on how immature he was to go that far and he apologized but then again it kept going and his stories changed again…

That’s the true story and you don’t have to believe me.. Feel free to talk to my family and ask them what Mike did…. He is hated in my family more that any one else.


That’s the short version of the story.

To defend the guys in the shop.. Everyone who worked there were cool and hard workers the thing that killed that would be how Mike would tell someone to come in on a certain day and not tell Chris.. This would happen all the time… (Guys showed up who lived 2-3 hours away… What do you tell them?) Chris didn’t know about it so he didn’t order the parts… Mike would call Chris yelling at him (Chris put the phone on speaker for all of us) demanding the car get done in a day (even if it was a few days worth of mods) so the guys would have to rush causing some things to fail or the car would sit because the parts were not ordered.. Or they would have to stop what they were doing to work on this car causing the other car not to be done on time.…(Not only that but every time we tried to order parts all the CC were maxed out) That’s not the shops fault it’s the person telling people to come in and not letting the guys know… Poor Chris some days would be so stressed out because if things like this he would pull his hair out and just want to leave…. Which it understandable… When the partners took over things started to change and the shop turned around.. Unfortunately it was too late and I wish them all the best of luck!

So what does Mike do.. Gets a job as a sales guy, was asked to leave and starts another shop… I won’t comment on the guys who work there because I don’t know them but well read above… People like that don’t change.. Hell he still makes crap up and talks about me to his followers all the time. Tunes cars with mail order tunes that AED has had to fix at least 5 that I know of. lol.. Hell not to mention 5 of our club members who got “Random phone call from TPS incur aging them to go to there show” all 5 asked to have there numbers removed from there list. If he has all these cars going why do they have to hit up a call it’s.. I have never heard of anyone doing that.. I can see e-mails but Craig’s list and phone calls…

Sad thing is I got over this but he still has to talk his made up trash about knowing everything in my life even though he doesn’t know shit about it…. I know Mike is reading this.. Mike if you would only shut up and worry about your own life instead of those who are successful in life, work and car club you name would be forgotten… But I think you feed off this BS only to run your mouth a little more every day…

If any of you question the truth if you see my Wife, Mom, Sister or my 91 year old Grandfather there ask them the story.. They wanted him in court.

With all that being said since I banned him off our site and our club moved on life has been good.. Successful, married, Saw the light and went to AED!

BTW the dyno at TPS is the dyno from Apex…

Wow dude, i never knew about all this stuff that happened back in the Day at apex, this guy sounds like a real D-Bag.

Glad you at least got some form of restitution for you're car though, even if it did take a year, he just sounds like a shady character in general.

I too heard alot of crap about things that happened in the past, and like many of you I belived it, but that was the past. The one thing many of you are missing is the other half of the story, which is very unfortunate. Before I brought my car over to TPS I took the time to talk with Mike, I told him what I heard, what believed etc. I heard the other half of the story. Mind you the stuff I heard before handwas all 3rd, 4th person, ebelishments and rumor. Once I heard both sides I made an educated decision and have been a very happy customer. Not once have I experienced anything shadey, wrong questionable etc. In fact my car is there now to complete my suspension package.

I know there will be some that will probably accuse me of being Mike using a different screenie. It's not, I can be found on many of the local boards from the stallions, svtperformance, cafords etc. My name is Rich, and I have the screen names RAP66 & hard_jokur.

I'm suprised because I see some familiar names from the other boards, and I find it shamefull that they are going with the status quo and not stand up for a local performance shop after so many have closed.

im all for supporting local shops, but there is always a reason behind a shop closing, be it financial issues or building a bad reputation over the years, ie... Apex, Speed Freaks... etc...

if you have one or two bad marks on your otherwise prefect reputation, that is one thing
but if you have the same issues with a large number of customers, like blown motors, bad tune, parts missing/falling off... and use excuses like "well of course the motors going to blow up, its not built to handle that much power"

if your going to say that, then don't tune it to that much power or make sure you get them a built motor to handle it, if your willing to build and tune a car that won't last, and give it to the customer regardless of if the customer is aware of the potential of the motor blowing up, then i have a hard time believing that you are not in it just for the money.

Look at AED for example, they will not run a tune that is not safe for the motor that is in the car, they will make sure you know what it can handle and what parts you need to make sure your can makes it to the track... and repeatedly prove themselves in there own cars at the track.. thats how a shop should be run, even if its costs me a little more i would rather have it done right the first time...

I know that most of the negative experiences were with Apex, and if you have had a good experience with TPS, that's great but if you build a reputation and then open another shop with the same owner running it you cant expect people to forget how you ran the first shop...

i mean if someone opens a restaurant, and gets a reputation for having horrible food closes, relocates and then proceeds to make the exact same food that closed you down in the first place... would you eat there again?

does everyone deserve a second chance? Yes should some people not be doing the same thing that make them fail in the first place?

I dont think so...

Back in 04 I left for the military and the weekend before I left my clutch basically exploded on me in my 03 cobra, to the point where it couldn't start anymore. Fast forward about 9 months and I'm stationed in North Carolina at Camp Lejeune and I wanted my car, but I wanted it fixed before I got it. I had it towed from my house in Oakland to Apex. Apex fixed and replaced all the necessary parts for about $1200.00. After completion, my car was transported to N.C. and upon arrival my car and clutch ran great. I don't remember who I was working it or who I was talking to, but whoever worked on my car did a great job at Apex and I want to thank them. That car had 40,000 miles on it when the cluth went out. That same cluth was running great and strong untill the day it was totalled with 85,000 miles on it. I currently have no worksmanship or performance work done By TPS. But I do need a new cluth in my current cobra that another local shop replaced for about $1500.00 and lasted less than 10,000. TPS will get my business when I'm ready to have my clutch replaced.
